EXPRESSION THROUGH THE CENTURIES
October 17, 2018
The Fountain School welcomes our newest faculty member, violinist Leonardo Perez, to the Halifax musical community. He takes us on a stringed musical journey from the genius of J.S. Bach's Partita No. 1 for solo violin to the raw intensity of Czech master Leoš Janáček's Sonata for Violin and Piano, closing with the monumental Piano Quintet of Johannes Brahms. Joining Leo are pianist Peter Allen, violinist Philippe Djokic, violist Elizabeth Upson Perez, and cellist Ben Marmen.
IMPRESSIONS OF DEBUSSY, 100 YEARS ON...
November 7, 2018
A musical tribute to Claude Debussy, who dies 100 years ago this year. Leonardo Perez (violin), Peter Allen (piano), Michael Donovan (baritone), Marcia Swanston (mezzo soprano), and Shimon Walt (cello) share an evening of Debussy's well-loved music from across his compositional lifetime. Among the works to be performed are his Violin Sonata, Piano Trio, and his settings of Paul Verlaine's evocative poetry, Fêtes galantes I and II.
